Port activities
Although lumber is the main product shipped through the facility, the port also handles locally produced paper and general goods (powdered milk, sod, salt), the latter contributing substantially to the volume of products handled. The quality and efficiency of the labor force is commonly acknowledged to be a key factor in the port's competitiveness.
Secondary role(s) of facilities
The creation of the Port of Gros Cacouna enabled the creation of wetlands that promote bird life and therefore constitute a choice bird-watching area.
